"ViNO" - The project promoting biodiversity in vineyards

The field studies of the "Vigneti and Natura in Oltrepò" (ViNO) project confirm: Oltrepò Pavese hosts a unique mosaic of environments where viticulture and nature coexist.

To maintain this mosaic, coexistence must be transformed into shared management practices among all actors in the area.

WHAT'S ViNO?

ViNO is a project created by Fondazione Lombardia per l'Ambiente (FLA) and Cooperativa Eliante, with the aim of promoting practices for the management of biodiversity-friendly vineyards, reinforcing the link between Oltrepò's wine production and its environment and territory.

KEEPING THE MOSAIC THROUGH THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE ACTORS OF THE AREA

ViNO has involved a pilot group of winegrowing companies in the definition and experimentation of a vineyard protocol for the ecological network that integrates economic and environmental requirements related to the protection of biodiversity. Companies adhering to the ViNO Protocol undertake to maintain a mosaic of environments as diversified as possible, preserving and safeguarding in particular the foraging and reproduction habitats for the avifauna
