Clever Cities

The project aims at designing and implementing some innovative nature-based urban regeneration intervention inside the Municipality of Milan, in particular:

  • the design and construction of noise barriers through the inclusion of naturalistic elements along the railroad tracks, also in order to increase biodiversity;
  • the implementation of green infrastructures at the new Tibaldi station;
  • the construction of green roofs through the involvement of all potential stakeholders (condominiums administrators and owners and tenants of housing, experts in green roofing and specialized companies), including incentives and a capillary information campaign integration of experimental elements capable of mitigating noise towards the railway line on a green area in via Giambellino;
  • the involvement of citizens in the design and implementation of interventions through the development of IT platforms that facilitate participation.

In addition to Eliante and the Municipality of Milan, the project consortium includes: the cities of Hamburg (leader) and London as "Front Runner" partners, as well as Malmo (Sweden), Madrid (Spain), Larissa (Greece), Sfantu Gheorghe (Romania) and Belgrade (Serbia) as "follower" cities. In Italy we will work together with Milan Politecnico, WWF Italy, Ambiente Italia, AMAT and RFI.
