Green rails

The purpose of the project is to carry out a feasibility study to create a linear park between the railway yards of Saint Cristoforo and Porta Romana; the  study is going to assess whether San Cristoforo and Porta Romana railyards could be suitable nodes of a potential ecological network having as main branches the buffer zones alongside the train line

On the long term, the project would like to plan a urban ecological network able to connect the rural areas south-west of Milan with those to the east.

The intention, in the wake of the success stories already in place in Paris (Promenade plantée), London (Urban oases) and New York (The high line) is to both create an ecological network able to penetrate the "urban fabric" and provide the city with a new concept of urban park, featuring a "wild green" accessible to the citizens of Milan.
